![]() It is hard to always be Perfect anyway □ I like that, it is humbling to know that nothing is ever Perfect and On1 realized that and titled the new Plugin simply, Effects 10. This makes it much more valuable in the editing process as all of the other fine filters can be used in unison with easier accessibility. BW Effects has been added to On1 Effects 10 as a Filter. Black and White Effects is no longer a separate Plugin. It may sound like a silly Pro, but I found myself sometimes forgetting where PE 9 was in the past when it was stuck in the Automate section. Increased Workflow Efficiency in Photoshop as Effects 10 can now be found in the Filter section rather than Automate.Much of what was good in Perfect Effects 9 remains the same in On1 Effects 10, but here are some more of my thoughts as I worked through Effects 10 over the last few days: Black and White Effects has been turned into a Filter in Effects 10.Moved from the File > Automate section of Photoshop to the Filters section.Faster image processing (there is a noticeable difference).Noteworthy new features from Perfect Effects 9 to 10: It may not seem like much has changed, but there have been some significant improvements that I will point out along the way. The new On1 Effects 10 was released last week and I have had the luxury of taking a look at all of its new features. Apple Photos is just not enough. It was almost a year ago that I took a good solid look at On1’s Perfect Effects 9. The trouble is, I really don't know what else to replace LR with. It also does not feel like a native Mac application, and can be a bit clunky at times. Neither was ready for release in my opinion, and it still isn't. I'm afraid to keep spending money on ON1, and somewhat resent having to pay for 19 to fix 18's issues. I can choose a set of files to import, but when I click import, nothing happens Aperture ran better on my 9 year old Mac Pro The secondary display feature is a welcome addition, but it frequently behaves oddly compared to LR, which was about perfect ON1 sometimes hangs with a single CPU at 100%, requiring a force quit On paper, ON1 seems like the ideal replacement, but with the latest release I have the following show-stopping issues: I was using Lightroom, but was frustrated at how slow it was, among other things. I'm ready to pay $80, but is there something I need to consider before I go and buy the licence? Is there any user who's happy/sad with the decision? I'm writing this post to ask if someone can help me here with this. First impressions are quite positive, but I still am not sure with what will come to me, especially I barely know Photoshop and therefore there's a steep learning curve for masks, layers, etc. I'm currently using the 30 day trial and even migrated my LR to it. I then started looking to the paid (but with ownership) software.Īfter my research, I think I will settle with ON1 Photo RAW. I already tried darktable, rawtherapee and canon's own dpp, but neither of these fits me somehow. The problem is, I don't want to spend $300 for CaptureOne, nor rent the software for a unnecessarily (for me, of course) high amount of money. Obviously, there are 2 really good ones which come to mind in such situations, Lightroom Classic CC and CaptureOne. Although I'm still very happy to use it, the fact they probably won't update it to comply with the future macOS versions soon, I'm currently on search for an alternative. I currently use Lightroom 6 with perpetual licence I bought back then and it's not supported anymore. I always shoot raw (Canon CR2 but in the future possible CR3, if it's relevant) and hence I need a good RAW processor. I'm an hobbyist with more than apple photos or Windows photos app requirements.
